Zapera presents new methods at
conference
Monday, 22 April 2002
This May, Zapera will be presenting
the results and method of the Internet-based exit poll we conducted
in connection with the Danish general election in November 2001.
Zapera's Research Director, Mads Stenbjerre, has been invited to the
annual conference of The American Association for Public Opinion
Research, the world’s largest organisation for opinion research. The
conference will be held in St. Petersburg, Florida between 16 and 19
May 2002.
"It’s a great honour for us and an
indication that the quality of our Internet-based research has
caught the attention of the rest of the world," says Mads Stenbjerre.
"I look forward to being able to present our work and discuss its
possibilities with academics and representatives from analysis
institutes around the world."
Zapera's exit poll was conducted
over the course of election day on 20 November 2001. The results of
the exit poll were presented live on Zapera's own site and on Yahoo!
and SOL. Zapera developed a special dynamic weighting algorithm for
the exit poll which ensured that the results were not affected by
any imbalances in the random sample arising from Internet use or
demographic factors.
When compared to the actual
election results, the variance in Zapera's online exit poll was on
average less than 1% for all parties standing. The results of the
Internet-based exit poll were not significantly different from the
results of the traditional exit polls carried out by Megafon and
Gallup.
