Parallel study: GP panel

In October/November 2004 we conducted a parallel study in Denmark comparing Zapera’s online GP panel to a study of GPs conducted by GfK Denmark.

In Zapera’s GP panel we conducted a total of 194 interviews with a representative sample of GPs (General Practitioners). All of Zapera’s interviews where carried out online. In the same period, GfK conducted 174 postal interviews with a representative sample of GPs.

As the graphs below show, the results from the two methods show a very high degree of agreement. There were literally no significant deviations between Zapera’s and GfK’s results. Thereby confirming that the results from the online panel are valid and representative.

Moreover, Zapera’s interviews were conducted in a 4 day period, which means that Zapera’s online GP panel allows you to conduct representative pharmaceutical research on a much shorter time scale than traditional methods.

“This latest parallel study is a confirmation of the high quality of our GP panel,” says Ulla Johansen, Research Team Executive with responsibility for pharmaceutical research. “The online panel is ideally suited for clients who need representative medical research with faster turnaround than they can get from traditional methods.”

The first graph shows the number of doctors who have prescribed each product. Similar patterns of results were observed for prescription frequency and ability to identify company that produced each product.

The parallel survey also included a number of questions about perceptions of pharmaceutical companies. The graph shows which modes of communication with the pharmaceutical companies that doctors find most important. Other questions included perceptions of changes in pharmaceutical companies’ marketing towards doctors. Again, patterns of responses were similar to the results displayed here.
